It's Internet... Hooray Internet!!!

So I called the Comcast guy today, since they never actually called me. He told me that my connection was perfect, and has been since Tuesday, when they installed it. So it was the dang router. I couldn't get it to work connected directly to my computer though, so I dunno. He basically told me I was an idiot, and sounded just like my dad, when I have absolutely no idea what he's talking about and he's running out of patience repeating it for me.

I followed his directions and got my computer all hooked up. I spent the next 4 hours downloading tons of crap. CD's, TV shows, etc. Then Drew got home. Of course he wanted to hook up to the internet too, so we went to Best Buy and bought a real wireless converter. The Linksys Wireless Router that we bought is working beautifully. Drew's computer is having troubles connecting to the network, but Griffin's computer, which he brought up tonight, is working great.

Yeah, so to fill you in on why Griffin's here. I was talking to Clint on MSN today, and he asked me if everyone was going up to the apartment tonight. I had no idea what he was talking about, so I was like "what?" He told me that Quinn and a bunch of guys were gonna head up to the Lone Peak vs. Bountiful football game up in bountiful. Afterward they'd stop off at the apartment. I called Quinn and it turns out that they were all planning on sleeping over. So Quinn, Steve, Nate, and Griffin, all headed up and picked me and Drew up. We went to the game and in the last 4 minutes of the 2nd quarter we scored 28 points to lead them 28 to 14. Afterward, just as we were leaving at the beginning of the 4th quarter, they scored another touchdown. So it was 34 to 14. Good game; hopefully we won.

We went to a burger joint called Best Burger in Bountiful. Their food is incredible, but I'm feeling kinda sick now. Yuck.

So we're all chilling up at the apartment right now, and Drew and Griffin are starting a game of Wolfenstein, so I think I'll join in. Over and out...

If That's Movin' Up, Then I'm Moving Out...

Note: I wrote this last night, but before I could finish it and post, my internet flipped out and died. I couldn't get it back until just now.

So we've been moving stuff up steadily over the last couple weeks, getting ready to make the final leap into college life. I have been so busy with work and moving, and trying to have a life in-between, that I've not posted for some time. This is due mainly to the fact that I had started another blog focusing on the day to day goings-on of our jobs at Brycon Construction. I felt it sufficient to maintain that blog instead for a while.

However, I find myself without a blog again, and I turn now to this one--the same blog I had originally intended to use for college life, etc. I simply haven't settled down and written for a week or so, and I'm only getting back into the swing of things.

My posts for the next few days may be erratic, and it's quite possible that I don't post until next week, when I will be officially moved in and attending college. I am, however, spending the evening and much of tomorrow up here in beautiful Salt Lake City, in my apartment. We were having problems with our Comcast internet (either the modem or the wireless router, or something) and I talked to a Comcast rep today, who directed me to check up on it again, and we would try to solve the problem tomorrow--if it persisted. I hadn't been up here since Tuesday, and it being Thursday, the problem may have fixed itself.

When I first got back to the apartment, the internet refused to work. I tried lots of tricks--things I'd learned from Mike (one of my apartment-mates) and stuff I reasoned out by myself. Nothing was working, so I angrily stomped off to the living room to watch some TV. I got hungry, and made myself Macaroni & Cheese--which sucked cause I didn't have a caulinder and thus had a hard time making it. I ended up with soupy Macaroni & Cheese, which had somehow gotten cold in the time it took me to mix it all up. I watched The Office while eating my brand new, reheated dinner.

I tried my luck again, after dinner and the internet worked for a mere 20 minutes. I got gloomy again, and decided to watch an ON-DEMAND Comcast movie, that I found for free--My Best Friend's Wedding. I hadn't seen it before, only heard about it. I f ound it lucky that it was free, cause I had wanted to watch it, but never wanted to expend money to see it. I really liked it, and after I spend an hour and a half watching it til the end, I checked the internet again. It worked for a second, but stopped. I found a USB cable and got the funky idea that I might be able to use the USB interface to take the internet to my computer, and then shoot it through the ethernet to the Belkin wireless router, and then onto the network. The only problem was that my computer needed to install the software to recognize the Motorola SB5120 Modem. I couldn't get onto the internet to download the drivers, and the jerk who installed the modem, never gave me installation cds or anything. Somehow I got the internet working again, long enough to find the drivers, after searching for like 30 minutes. I installed them and pulled the ethernet out of the modem, hoping my idea would work, but I instantly lost my internet.

Bugger!

I hooked the ethernet back into the modem and regained my prized internet connection. Unusually enough, I haven't lost it since, and it's been almost 2 hours. The internet light on the router will occasionally blink, but the signal remains intact. Except now, I have just lost my internet. It went out, literally as I typed "it's been almost 2 hours." Dang!

What the heck?! How am I going to post this now? Okay, this will obviously be an interesting post, and a right confusing one too, but let's be honest; who's going to read this? I'll probably get this posted like, tomorrow, and the whole blog entry will be almost pointless.

Or I could simply continue to type until it comes back on. That would be very weird--to be reading this as it's happening, but it's already happened. Hmmm....perhaps I should just disconnect the modem, and try to get my signal back. It could take hours though. That Comcast guy better fix this tomorrow....

Oh, Drew finally got here like, a half hour ago. He got pulled over on the freeway for going "5 mph over the speed limit" according to his ticket. But he was actually going like, 20 mph over, and he can't find a price for the ticket, so he's hoping that it won't cost anything aside from traffic school. I feel bad for him, but can't help being grateful that I haven't been pulled over yet.

Mike and Quinn should be moving up soon; either this weekend or Monday. Actually Drew and I should be moving up too. We technically haven't moved yet. None of us are living up here yet, since we want to be around our other friends until the last possible time we have to move up here. Even though I want to do stuff with friends, I for some reason can't bring myself to actually call anyone. It really bugs me, cause I want to do stuff, but I won't call. So I'm basically either wasting my time up here, or at home. Either way my life kinda sucks right now. I'm excited for school to start again, but not, cause then I won't see anyone for a while. I don't really know what I want, now that I think about it.

Everything will be fine in a week, cause I won't really have a choice. It'll be easier that way...
