So Matt Weidauer is going to Honolulu on his mission. That's incredible news! We're all so excited for him. He's going to serve the people of Hawaii with such enthusiasm and do a great service for the Lord the next two years.
The great thing--however, also infinitely sad--is that he's selling his guitar...or was. It's sad to see such a talent part with his axe, but it might be for the best, at least for now. The "or was" is key to this news, because I actually bought that guitar. I love to play it...it is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up--'cept you can't, cause there's only one Matt Weidauer's guitar, and now I've got it. He even signed it.
Not only did he play it, and he signed it for me, but it just sounds so freaking good. I think, however, that he uses a heavier string than I usually do. I buy light strings, and they sound just fine. Heavier strings sound better, as is evident in my new guitar, but the fact that it's a better guitar also helps. The reason I think that they're heavier is that my fingers hurt an unusual amount after my first day playing it. They may simply be brand new, but I've put new strings on my guitars before and I've never experienced this much pain in my fingers. Anyway, I imagine it's good for me, as it will probably make my calluses thicker or better or something.
I'm sincerely hoping that owning a guitar that Matt used to play and actually signed, will make me a better player, haha. A silly desire, but wouldn't we all love to play better...in fact, wouldn't we all like to play like Matt, really?
Anyway, I definitely feel as though I scored on this guitar, and I think that it's comparable to that Ferrari in Ferris Bueller's Day Off...at least for me. Just believe me that I will not be lending it to any slick-haired garage monkeys or throw it out the back of my house into the forest. I love that guitar.
